New Edition And New Kids Team for New Record

Monday, July 7th, 2008

New Kids on The Block present Veteran boy bands are making a comeback.

It’s been reported that New Kids on The Block has teamed with another 80’s group, New Edition, to release their new song together as groups called Full Service. The song will supposedly appear on NKTOB’s planned album and it was co-written by Donnie Wahlberg.

The reunion, according to People.com, "went smoothly. There were no egos or attitudes. It felt like they’d been friends forever." But reports also said Bobby Brown, the front runner of New Edition, wasn’t in the recording.

New Kids On The Block and New Edition were rumored to be at odds as a boy band group back in their time. But this collaboration should put that rumor to rest.

But what is your take on this current trend, with former music sensations making a comeback?

Are you a fan of the group? Are you a fan of this current trend? Is it great to see these former teen heartthrobs, now more mature men, back and performing?

Been living under a rock, don’t know what Camp Rock is!

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Camp_Rock_movie_01.jpg

Haagh. I really am getting old. Apparently, on of the hit shows of the summer is Disney’s Camp Rock, outdrawing High School Musical, the previous summer’s hit, in the ratings. What is Camp Rock? I have no idea. I had to ask my 10 year old about it and I was told it stars the new Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato with the Jonas Brothers (who I only know from watching them on American Idol last season).

Here’s the gist of the TV Movie based on a review from the New York Times:

Mitchie (Demi Lovato) is desperate to go to a rich-kid rock ’n’ roll camp, but her family can’t afford it until her mother gets hired as the camp cook, entitling Mitchie to a discount. Also at the camp is a vain rock star (played by Joe Jonas) doing some image rehabilitation, as well as that insufferable diva (Meaghan Jette Martin). It’s a sort of glass-ceiling character for these movies and shows; either the writers of such stuff think that young viewers can’t handle anything more than blatantly obvious good-gal/bad-gal dynamics, or they have no idea how complex and varied real high school social life is.

In any case, Mitchie tries to hide her identity; the obligatory romance, food fight and climactic talent show come along on schedule; and some moderately catchy tunes and dance numbers are served up (many of them at the end, in that talent show).

Because of the show’s success, Disney is already working on the sequel, with the script already in development. They’re expecting to bring everyone from the principal cast back and production for it is targeted for spring or summer 2009.

This is supposedly how Tila Tequila got famous

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

tilaFor the record, I actually don’t know how Tila Tequila looks like except that now, I have to find a picture of her for this entry (Oh, that’s what she looks like!). Before this, I did not know who she was. I only had an idea she’s a somebody because I always read her name online (always!).

What she’s famous for, I had no clue. Until I read this article from Holy Taco saying….

"Back in 2005, the editor-in-chief of Stuff magazine wanted to capitalize on the popularity of the Internet. He called down to the online department and said, “Hey, tell me who has a lot of Myspace friends,” because he wanted to put someone on the cover of Stuff who had a “lot of Myspace friends.” The brilliant marketing plan behind this was based on the thinking that if someone on the cover had a million Myspace friends, then all those “friends” would buy that magazine and sales would skyrocket. What it showed, instead, was a complete lack of understanding of how the Internet works. When someone has a million Myspace friends, it just means that he/she spends the majority of his/her day clicking “add as a friend” or “accept.” They aren’t pals who sit around and reminisce about the good times they’ve had.

So, the online guy took 10 seconds (honestly, 10 seconds) and found a girl with an assload of MySpace friends. That, girl, of course, was Tila Tequila, and she appeared on the April 2006 cover of Stuff.

The editor’s big plan failed (the cover sold the same as every other one), but Tila Tequila somehow got famous. A girl whose biggest claim to fame up to that point had been a Playboy cyber girl in 2002 (which is basically the sewage drain of wannabe models) and some other crap you never saw. She even attempted to enter Maxim’s Hometown Hotties in 2005, but was too stupid to mail in the proper forms."

I have no idea whether this story is true or not.

Centuries ago, a person became famous for the kind of contribution he or she has brought to the world — Da Vinci, Newton, Grahambell — those kinds of famous people.

In the Internet age, Tila’s story shows how anyone can become "famous" just by simply clicking on some ADD ME button in a social networking site.

Times have changed. A lot.

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

computer_frustration Big apologies for the unexpected downtime. 451Press has had major server issues, we had to wait for days until this was resolved.

But it seems everything is fine now. I hope.

I’m just gonna be catching up on some belated news in the next couple of days, don’t be surprised if you read about stuff you should have read about a week ago. It’s just my way of getting right back on track.

Thanks for sticking around!

Jamie Lynn Spear’s Baby’s Photos

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

maddie-briann New mother, Jamie Lynn Spears, has given birth to a girl last Thursday, June 19th, in Mississippi . She named her Maddie Briann. Jamie Lynn, only 17 years old, wasn’t even out of the hospital when she posted an update of the birth on her MySpace blog and included a picture of the newest celebrity Spears.

Jamie Lynn writes:

Thank you all guys for the comments and messages, i love you all guys.

Some of u are surprised about the name, but casey didn’t actually like the other names.

Maddie Briann OMG now i really understand my mom lol, sometimes she was overprotective but now i understand why.

Now Maddie is sleeping like an angel and i’m still in hospital ..

A lot has been said about Jamie Lynn’s early pregnancy. But this time around some quarters are wondering why she isn’t putting her baby’s photos up for bidding with the press.

Is that even necessary? I think that like any excited young mother, making money off her baby’s photos isn’t the first thing in Jamie’s mind right now.

I’m actually glad she didn’t have to put this one up for bid and posted it on her personal site instead.

$2 Million Fee for Leona Lewis

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

leona lewis 2 Million Wow. It looks like Simon Cowell’s discovery is really going and soaring in high places. Starpulse is reporting that booking Leona Lewis, newest British singing sensation, for a singing engagement will reportedly cost US $2 Million. It’s almost the same fee for when someone books a Paul McCartney appearance.

From Starpulse:

The Bleeding Love star has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame since winning U.K. talent show The X Factor in 2006 - and can demand huge amounts of cash to perform intimate gigs for wealthy fans. The star has been offered a $2 million personal appearance fee to play a small set for an unknown bidder, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.

A source tells the publication, “Leona is one of the most sought after stars around. She has little say in the fee charges - big money sponsors literally name their fee and her management respond accordingly. She is adamant much of the profit goes straight back to her favorite charities.”

Lewis, who has hit the top spot in both the U.K. and U.S. album charts with her debut LP Spirit, is reportedly worth $12 million - but gives most of her money away to charity organizations.
