Are You Happy With The New Karate Kid?

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

jaden

Will Smith’s 20 year old son, Jaden Smith, will be starring in the latest version of The Karate Kid. The original movie made Ralph Macchio the star he was back in the 80’s. It also spawned three more versions, with the fourth and last one featuring and starring Hillary Swank.

The version that will star Will Smith’s son is going to be written by Chris Murphy and will have location shoots in Beijing and other similar exotic environments. It will not be following the original show in the strictest sense.

With the death of Pat Morita who was a very important figure in the Karate Kid movies, casting the new Mr. Miyagi is still underway.

Jaden Smith has dabbled into acting as early as two years ago when he starred alongside his father in the sappy story, The Pursuit of Happyness.

Ashley appears to be the third wheel in this outing, but the truth is the actress enjoys seeing the couple, Zac and Vanessa, together. She tells Pop Tarts — “I’m a total romantic, I loved watching romantic comedies growing up like ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ and so obviously, like, I just love watching Zac and Vanessa because it is such a sweet and romantic relationship so of course you’re like, ‘aww’ whenever they kiss and everything. But just watching them on set is really awesome, it’s beautiful.

David Archuleta Is Ready To Prove His The Idol

The runner-up to the most recent American Idol talent contest is releasing his album next week. It comes a week before David Cook’s (American Idol winner) own album release. The two will definitely be competing with each other again at the music charts. But David Archuleta sees this differently.

Speaking before the press, the 17 year old says —-

“I know everyone wants us still to compare and compete, but we are so different. Cook is a rocker guy, a guitarist and an amazing musician, and I’m a pop kid. I am as excited for his album as I am for mine because we have gone together through this process of watching our dreams grow. This is what we’ve been looking forward to — living our dreams and starting our musical careers.”

David Archuleta’s self-titled debut album is a mixture of styles. He says to Reuters, “One song has a reggae-ish feel to it, there are slower ones and others with a different feel.” The singer is also a songwriter. He has worked on a total of five songs in this album.

With its release, he will be very busy performing at festivals and on television this holiday season.

Which David album will you be buying this November? And who do you think will do better?

Robert Pattinson as Salvador Dali

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

robert pattinson

Robert Pattinson, the star of this winter’s much-awaited film Twilight, has earlier signed on to play Salvador Dali in the movie Little Ashes about this time last year. This was even before he became such a heartthrob or a household name courtesy of his upcoming vampire film.

Little Ashes is about the relationship with Dali and Federico Garcia Lorca, one of Spain’s famous poet. Theirs was the kind of bromance that Dali denied ever became physical. But the film version supposedly adds a bit of spice and steam to it.

The movie is written by Philippa Goslett for the big screen.

Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson was this year’s recipient of the New Hollywood Award. The festivities happened just before the Halloween celebration.

On November 7th, MTV will be hosting a special Twilight event where Rob and Kristin Stewart (his co-star) will be in attendance. Director Catherine Hardwicke is also expected to be at the affair.

MTV News will be holding a very special “Twilight” event in Los Angeles on November 7th, as we tape a television special celebrating the much-anticipated movie. “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and director Catherine Hardwicke will be in attendance to address the crowd, and they’ll premiere never-before-seen footage from the movie some two weeks before it hits theaters. Hardwicke will also take questions from attendees during a Q & A session.

If you would like to attend, then check the mechanics of joining at this MTV Blog. It involves registering and posting a comment on their site.
