Talks are ripe about Dakota Fanning being offered to a big role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, which has made stars out of Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. The casting people are eyeing her for the part of Jane, a vampli Volturi. The offer is still under negotiations.

Dakota, who first started as a young child actress and is now blossoming into teenhood,  may be keen on getting some vampire action. In a recent interview with ET, the young actress said —-

“It would be so cool to play a vampire. I’m a huge fan of the book and the previous film.”

The Obama Daughters In The Public Eye

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Well, these girls, the first daughter Sasha and Malia, will be at the center of the public eye in the next four years, much like their very important parents, new President Barack Obama and his First Lady, Michelle.

20090116_obamadaughters_560x375

sasha_malia2

Sasha is only 10 years old while Malia is still a very impressionable 7 year old. They are said to be the youngest kids in the White house since Carter’s daughter, Amy, in the 70’s (she was about 9 years old). What kind of presidential lifestyle will these two have? I’m sure the media will be watching their every little move. Will they have a hard time getting used to the attention? Can they behave like any normal child and get into mischief?

The Obama’s, however, have been trying in the best possible way to expose their children in their very public way of life. The children have been on stage during rallies and have been in billboards and other campaigns. They are made to understand what being daughters of a public figure is about at an early age.

The girls are currently enrolled at private school in Chicago. Pretty soon, they will have to set camp at Washington. It’s been reported that one of the things their parents would have to decide for them immediately is whether they should go to a public school or a private school next. Their parents have different views. Dad wants them to experience public school, while Mom, wants them to continue getting a private school education.

She has gone through so much but she seems to be ready to face an audience and sing for them again.

Will Vanessa Hudgens Join New Moon?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Unconfirmed news going around the grapevine a couple of weeks now is saying that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is eyeing a role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. The 20-year old is apparently keen on auditioning for Leah Clearwater, a new character which will be introduced in the upcoming movie, described as a feisty heartbroken cynic who is going to be part of Jacob Black’s group.

At a recent Golden Globe party, Ashley Green (who plays Alice Cullen in the movie) says that having Vanessa in the cast would be great. But this isn’t a confirmation of whether or not the young Disney star did land the role. Yet.

Shooting for New Moon doesn’t begin until spring this year and production is expected to fast track in time for a November offering.

Would Vanessa Hudgens be able to pull off a character who seems to be the exact opposite of her sweet, all-smiling High School Musical alter ego? Can you see Vanessa playing feisty?

Watchmen’s Malin Akerman

Monday, January 12th, 2009

27_Dresses_Malin_Akerman1

I find Malin Akerman super engaging on screen. She radiates sunshine even as she is playing the bratty, messed up girl in some of her films. She can play the girl next door type and she can also do the opposite. Either way, she remains lovable, doesn’t she?

In 2009, expect Malin to continue to shine with romantic movies like Couples Retreat and The Proposal. Romantic Film genre is probably her forte but she is also one of the stars of Watchmen, which is one of this year’s most anticipated movie. In it, Malin plays Laurie Juspeczyk -aka- Silk Spectre…which may be strange to picture right now with her. Have you seen her in her superhero costume for Watchmen? I have a hard time seeing her, still.

silkspectrefull

But that’s one reason why one should watch the movie….to see if Malin can break her romantic lead mold.

Tron Lead Actor, Garrett Hedlund

Monday, January 12th, 2009

garrett hedlund garrett hedlund1

Tron Remake news has been going on for quite sometime now. If I am not mistaken, a short preview of it was presented at last year’s Comic Con. The 1982 cult film which is getting a $150 million treatment by Disney, its producer, is highly anticipated by a lot of people. Last week, Disney announced which actor they picked to play the lead role and he is, as news say, quite a relative unknown.

His name is Garrett Hedlund. And he’s the guy who is going to play Kevin Flynn, who literally enters the world of computer games. The role was originally played by Jeff Bridges, who incidentally has signed on the remake as the CEO of a software corporation.

Does Garret look familiar to you? Let me jog your memory if you can’t place him —- has appeared in TV programs like “Friday Night Lights” and the movie “Eragon,” “Four Brothers” and “Georgia Rule”. Garret bested other possible actors for the role including Ryan Gosling and Star Trek’s Chris Pine.

Shooting will start this spring. The film also stars Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett.
