Well before the third installment of High School Musical hit theaters last year, the fourth one was actually already in the works and the story was being written inside the walls of the Disney Channel.
And this week, Disney has announced filming for High School Musical 4 should begin in the next two weeks in Utah.
This will be another TV movie the company has scheduled to air on 2010 on the same channel.
Since the main characters from the first three installments have already graduated from high school, there would have to be a fresh batch of teen heartthrobs to star in this new musical this time around. But given that, does it mean Troy (played by Zac Efron), Gabriella (played by Vanessa Hudgens) Sharpay (played by Ashley Tisdale) and the other cast members won’t even make a special appearance?
Disney Channel President Rich Ross told the press Tuesday, that they may have some of the original cast back and that the fourth musical will “have a new story to tell”.
High School Musical is about young love, friendships, rivalries and kids finding their potentials. The film has launched the careers of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale and has inspired millions of teenagers around the world. The first two installments ran on the Disney Channel as a TV movie, while the third one, which saw the graduation of the main characters, played in theaters and earned $251 million at the box office, worldwide.
While #2 is a good place to be, analyst feels that the “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience”, which hit theaters over the weekend, was a disappointment. It seems the screaming teenage girls were outnumbered by those who preferred to watch the comedy, “Madea Goes to Jail” which logged in at #1 on its second week.
Meanwhile, the brothers made a surprise appearance in New York over the weekend in a suburban movie house that they used to go to as kids. The brothers were promoting the movie last Saturday, much to the delight of their legion of young fans.
Taylor Swift graces the pages of Self Magazine this March. Parts of the feature story is after the cut…
The Jonas Brothers are going to get really busy in the coming weeks, especially since their latest movie and soundtrack are up for release this month.
Nick Jonas writes this on his personal blog:
January was a busy month but February is going to be even more fun! In January, we presented at the Golden Globe Awards and had the honor of performing at The Kids Ball in Washington for President Obama’s Inauguration. All of Washington was buzzing with excitement that week and we were glad that we were able to be a part of it.
The schedule that we keep is just another reason being in control of my diabetes is so important to me. Bayer and their Contour meter help me achieve that goal everyday.
This month my brothers and I have a lot of “firsts” planned. The Grammys were this month. We performed, but are even more thrilled that we were nominated! Both things are really a dream come true. Did you enjoy our performance with Stevie Wonder? It was truly an honor to grace the stage with such a living legend.
On February 14th we will be performing on Saturday Night Live. Most of that week actually we will be in NYC doing press letting everyone know about our 3D movie which comes out February 27th.
This month will round out with lots of promo for the premiere of our 3D Movie, continuing to record our TV series, JONAS, appearing in the Barbara Walters Oscar Night Special and much more. Have you decided where you are going to see the 3D Movie? Remember it comes out the 27th! I hope that you enjoy it.
The following is their schedule for the next few days —-
And below are videos of their appearance on David Letterman and Saturday Night Live:
First Lady Michelle Obama is Vogue Magazine’s cover girl for its March 2009 issue, out in stands now. Also in the issue is an interview with Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President, Joe Bidden.
From Vogue:
The trio of Jonas Brothers, Nick, Joe and Kevin, rocked the Grammy Awards early tonight with music idol Stevie Wonder. They sang their song Burnin’ Up while the legend, Stevie did his hit song, Superstition.
The brothers were up for Best New Artist, which they consequently lost to British sensation, Adele.
Here is a video of their performance:
The young star of Harry Potter, Emma Watson, is laughing of rumors about her having this Good Behavior Clause written into her acting contracts.
Only 18 years old, this was allegedly a demand from the studio, Warner Bros, in order for them to avoid getting into negative publicity, especially with the franchise growing so bigger all over the world. Emma, along with her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, play characters who are still going to school. The trio are supposed to safeguard their image as well-educated middle-class individuals.
Emma Watson insists such a clause is not important since none of them, particularly in her cares, is tempted to become a showbiz cliche.
She tells reporters this —
“I’ve never seen a ‘good behavior’ clause - I honestly think that’s a myth - but I actually wouldn’t ever need one. It’s just not necessary. Daniel (Radcliffe), Rupert (Grint) and I have been incredibly protected doing the Harry Potter movies. There seems to be this feeling that all of us were bursting to break out of these images we had created but that’s never been the case. We all share the same view. None of us court celebrity, none of us want to be part of the game I’m not tempted by parties or drugs. I don’t actually like being drunk, particularly in public.”
Unconfirmed news going around the grapevine a couple of weeks now is saying that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is eyeing a role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. The 20-year old is apparently keen on auditioning for Leah Clearwater, a new character which will be introduced in the upcoming movie, described as a feisty heartbroken cynic who is going to be part of Jacob Black’s group.
At a recent Golden Globe party, Ashley Green (who plays Alice Cullen in the movie) says that having Vanessa in the cast would be great. But this isn’t a confirmation of whether or not the young Disney star did land the role. Yet.
Shooting for New Moon doesn’t begin until spring this year and production is expected to fast track in time for a November offering.
Would Vanessa Hudgens be able to pull off a character who seems to be the exact opposite of her sweet, all-smiling High School Musical alter ego? Can you see Vanessa playing feisty?
Tweens are definitely going to look forward to this come May 2009 on The Disney Channel. This is the sneak peak to the new Jonas Brothers’ TV series entitled, J.O.N.A.S.
The program’s synopsis, as provided by Disney —
Kevin, Nick, and Joe are three brothers who hit the big time as hugely popular teen idols. How do teen idols live an ordinary life? They don’t! But as they try to be normal boys doing “normal” things, life keeps getting less and less “normal”. Living in the fish bowl can’t get any funnier!
