Watching New Celebs

Lily Collins, the daughter of famous music legend Phil Collins, is going to make a guest appearance in The CW’s teen series, 90210. The beautiful 19 year old, who has been working as a model, is expected to be in two episodes, airing May 12th and May 19th. She will play the rival of the show’s lead character, Annie Wilson (played by Shenae Grimes).

The young stunner also works as a correspondent for Nickelodeon. She is a member of the kids channels’ Election Connection Team, covering election conventions and has been hosting updates on music, fashion, movies and celebrities on the said channel. She has a knack for working in front of the cameras that for college,  she is pursuing broadcast journalism at the USC. She also writes for CosmoGIRL with her column, Lily’s Trend Watch.

For her work as a correspondent, she has already received recognition from the 2008 Young Hollywood Awards.

Modeling opened windows for her when she was discovered by Tommy Hilfiger on a flight from NY to Los Angeles, shuttling between her mother and her father’s house. Though her parents are already divorced, she maintains a close relationship with Phil Collins.

Says Lily of her father in this interview from two years ago: He’s so funny and so supportive. We always talk on the phone; we watch movies; we have inside jokes. I love hanging out with him in New York. We both love the theatre, so we’ll often go to a show. And he knows all the cool places that I’d never know about, like some secret restaurant hidden beneath a terrace. He’s dubbed ‘the shy guy’, but to me he’s not shy. He wrote a song for me called ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’, for Tarzan the musical. That song is very, very close to me.

The 90210 guest appearance is listed as Lily’s very first TV acting gig. Good luck to her!

Indian Bollywood Actor Aishwarya Rai has been voted by Forbes Magazine as the most bankable Bollywood actor on Hollywood….this after her very tiny role on the Pink Panther 2.

The actress is very much a superstar in her home country. And Forbes Magazine has listed her ahead of other Indian stars like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Irrfan Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

The beautiful actress is set to work next on projects with Tyra Banks and Will Smith who are said to be interested in casting the Bollywood beauty.

Reacting to the Forbes survey, Ash said — “Me the most bankable Bollywood star in Hollywood? Thank you! I must confess that any acknowledgement of hard work makes me feel content. In all humility, I want to thank all those who feel I’m bankable.”

For the first time in 8 Years, American Idol will be having thirteen finalists, instead of the usual 12. Four from yesterday advanced, giving one person the extra spot in this year’s singing contest.

Out of this 13 singers, one will become a big, big star come May of this year.

It seems the stars of Slumdog Millionaire are continuing to benefit from the movie’s good fortune. If you remember, the movie was adjudged Best Picture at the Oscar’s last February and it continuous to gain critical success. The most recent good news concerns Freida Pinto and her rumored cosmetics contract with Estee Lauder.

Though there are no confirmations from either the cosmetics company and Pinto’s talent agency, reports say Pinto would be a great spokesperson for the very popular make-up line. Estee Lauder opened its MAC Cosmetics store in Mumbai three years ago and are looking to expand the market in India. Hence, this would look like a really lovely partnership for them.

I wasn’t able to catch last week’s results show which explains why I am posting this today. If you’re a fan of the talent contest, American Idol, then I’m sure you already know who got in from the second group.

Adam Lambert was a sure choice. He’s miles apart from all the other contestants in terms of stage presence, impact and performance. But frankly, I’m not a fan of his singing voice. Allison Iraheta, who did a cool rendition of an Idol favorite (Alone by Heart) also earned a spot. I’m not too happy about Kris Allen making it to this batch, only because I was rooting for someone else. But I guess he earned his place anyway.

Season eight of American Idol has just named its first three finalist early tonight. One of them is potentially going to be a big star, based on how much exposure he is getting already.

First to make it to Top 12 is Alexis Grace who wowed the judges with an Aretha Franklin song. Next up was Michael Sarver who wasn’t exactly the best last night, but seemed to be too likeable, Simon Cowell predicted the audience will vote for him for it. And the judge from Britain was right. Third up was Danny Gokey, whose climb to Top 12 comes as no surprise. He was heavily favored as early as his first audition and it helps he has a very familiar face (hello, Robert Downey, Jr!).

Are you happy with tonight’s results?

I have not yet been closely watching the auditions of this year’s American Idol but I am very much aware of one Joanna Pacitti who was recently disqualified from the Top 36 spot because of her questionable connections with the people working behind the show or some executives at 19E, American Idol’s production arm.

I do remember her audition, and well, there is no doubt she could sing and can be good performer to watch on screen because aside from the talent, she also has the looks. Apparently, she did have a crack at recording even before she got into the audition. She clearly was no longer an amateur. While that opened a lot of interesting debates, the fact of the matter is that in this contest, it wasn’t actually that important. Past seasons have told us this is so. And in Joanna’s case, even as she had the experience, most of it were remotely successful. And is in Carly Smithson’s case last season, it was ultimately the votes that will decide to keep her.

The real issue here though is her supposed connection with a few of 19E’s executives, one of them she actually considers her best friend. Someone told me that this one was akin to joining a quiz show and knowing the answers beforehand because the contestant had the insider connection. It destroys the integrity of the “contest”.

And that is the real reason why she was removed and replaced.

Fourteen year old Oscar nominee, Saoirse Ronan, is reportedly taking a much deserved break from filming at her parents home and is catching up on school activities in Bunclody. She is taking the time out for herself after a very busy schedule, the most recent of which is her participation as Guest of honor at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

But the actress will soon be rolling in front of the cameras again come March. She is scheduled to leave for Bulgaria, to film a movie with Colin Farrell and Ed Harris entitled The Way Back. Saoirse’s role in the said movie is that of Polish girl who escapes a prison camp during World War 2.

The young actress has said to the press, she is looking forward to working with Colin, especially after winning an award in the recent Golden Globes for In Bruges.

Dakota Fanning, who is making the rounds promoting her movie Coraline (where she voices for the character) drops by David Letterman’s show the other day and was looking quite the lovely young actress. She was gorgeous and animated and totally all grown up now!

She talks to David about being a kid, driving and school responsibilities, proudly announcing that she’s got quite high marks in all of her finals, save for Geometry.

Sammi Hanratty, the young star of Pushing Daisies (she played Young Chuck Charles) posted her most recent video on Youtube with a glimpse of her adventures in Thailand.

The teenage actress tells her fans —- “I’m here in Thailand - Bangkok. It’s so wonderful, beautiful, I’m really excited to be here. I’m shooting a movie called The Lost Medallion with one of my friends Billy Unger. We’re just hanging out so I get to show you my adventure and everything.”

Seems every young hot celebrity would want to be part of the Twilight sequel movie, don’t they? The latest dish is, AnnaLynne McCord, star of the CW teen series 90210 is looking to play the role of Heidi, who is described as a “a fisher, someone who brings humans to the Volturi vampires to eat”.

While the part of Heidi isn’t that big, the book mentions her as someone unforgettable, “exceptional, unforgettable beauty with stunning legs and violet eyes” and thus uses her stunning presence to lure baits.

E! reports this story but none from the actress’ camp have confirmed it.

One of this year’s awards’ seasons most sought after people is British actor, Dev Patel, who is capturing a lot of attention…thanks to his critically acclaimed movie, Slumdog Millionaire.

The actor recently gave credit to his mother for pushing him to land his first acting job, a role on the British teen drama, Skins, which is like the equivalent of Gossip Girl in terms of controversies.

According to the actor, he first didn’t want to be in the production knowing the story lines involved a lot of sex, nudity and drugs but his mother pushed him to do the show, even if he had to appear naked.

His mum says —-

“He was apprehensive when he found out he’d have to appear naked. He said, ‘Oh God I am going to have to show my bum!’ I told him: ‘It’s only a bum; you’ve seen lots of people’s bums before.’ Now Dev thanks me for making him go to the audition.”

The niece of Oscar Winning Actress Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, is not new to the Hollywood circuit. Only, she is growing to be more and more visible these days as she transitions from teenage star to perhaps one of Hollywood’s A List Actors just like her aunt.

But the young actress is set on following the career of Anne Hathaway, whose Hollywood track record may be similar to Emma’s.

In 2004 Emma Roberts was the star of a kids variety show in Nickelodeon. Then about 17 years old, the young star eventually broke into the big business of movies, laying out the path to what should hopefully a flourishing entertainment career.

Asked why she loves to follow in the footsteps of Anne, the young actress says this via Moviehole.Net —-

“I just think it’s very thin ice you’re walking on, to make the transition from child actor to adolescence. Because so many people just mess it up, and they do things that are so outrageous. Anne Hathaway - the fact she was in The Princess Diaries, you’d never think about that. Whereas, like, Lindsay Lohan, you still know that she was in Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap, and it’s hard to take her seriously. So that’s why I really like Anne Hathaway, she is a great example. I think she’s been nominated for so many awards this year. And the fact that she starred in a Disney movie when she was in her teens - a lot of people don’t even know that, I don’t think.”

Talks are ripe about Dakota Fanning being offered to a big role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, which has made stars out of Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. The casting people are eyeing her for the part of Jane, a vampli Volturi. The offer is still under negotiations.

Dakota, who first started as a young child actress and is now blossoming into teenhood,  may be keen on getting some vampire action. In a recent interview with ET, the young actress said —-

“It would be so cool to play a vampire. I’m a huge fan of the book and the previous film.”

Fans of the series are delighted about this news and would like her to take the part of Jane as they deemed her perfect for it.

New Moon will begin shooting this coming spring time.

Brody Jenner sold his first TV show to FOX at the age of 21 years old. He’s been a series regular on other reality show since then (The Hills, Keeping Up With the Kardashians). His new reality show, Bromance, will be premiering on MTV very soon. The young man is only 25 years old and he has made quite an achievement for himself in the world of Reality TV.
