Kate Perry Dolls
No one is embracing her pop culture image quite like Kate Perry, whose doll images are currently up for pre-order at Integrity Toys’ website.
In collaborating with fashion designer Jason Wu, Kate Perry is launching her doll creations, all 12-inches tall of it, which will be sold worldwide. The doll will retail for about $49.99 and will have the same fashion accessories as the famous pop singer. One of the outfits the doll wears include Kate Perry’s mini dress in gold, which fans will recognize as the dress she wore in her “I Kissed A Girl” video clip.
Says Wu: “We are very excited to be working with Katy again. Her fresh attitude, unique style and fun approach to music make her a perfect candidate to become a fashion doll.”
Doll version of pop stars are not new to this commercial machinery. The likes of rappers like Ghostface have had their likeness immortalized as plastic miniature versions of themselves. Then of course, you have the famous McFarlene action figures which even came up with a Beatles doll and a Kurt Cobain doll.
But naughty tongues are wagging — will mothers be willing to buy a Kate Perry doll for their impressionable kids?
Katy Perry’s rise to stardom is marred by a lot of controversy especially because her song hinted of lesbianism, which reports have said upset her deeply religious parents (her father is a pastor). But that didn’t stop or hurt her climb to success and it may have enabled her popularity today.
